Don't Abandon Your Friends In A Time Of Need

In the past few weeks I have had the opportunity to draw very close to a friend of mine who is in need. At times in our lives we will hit a low spot. For this friend, she is in the greatest struggle of her life. The horrendous effects of pornography has ravaged her home. satan is doing that a lot these days ~ picking off Christians one by one ~ and his goal is to leave no survivors. This family has been no exception. What I've been reminded of is just how important it is to be there for people who need us.

We live in a fast paced world ~ it is so easy to be caught up in our own lives. And ~ unfortunately ~ some folk don't want to get involved. I've even seen others abandon a friend in their hour of need. I know I've had that experience myself. And it hurts like the dickens. God calls us to love one another no matter what. Jesus says in John 15; 12-13 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Christ has commanded us to love others as He loves us. And let me tell you ~ that is a a very great love to imitate. So reach out to those you know are in need ~ a phone call, a card, or even a visit ~ we can make a difference as we lay down our life for our friends.

5 Thoughts On The Matter:

I agree.. Friends and Family are so important on our journey in life. God made us for relationships. He himself is the ultimate example of intimate relationships with his followers. I've been so convicted of not spending enought time with others. I've started purposely seeking time with others and sticking to it.

Wow! This is so terrifying. A good friend of mine is going through the very same thing this week. It is only by the grace of God that she and her family are getting through it.
In fact it seems that our whole church is being attacked from every direction.
Thank you for the post. I was trying to think of the best way to approach it, but I think that I will link back to your page instead. God's Blessings

I have not seen it but I heard that the new movie *Fireproof* uses this as one of the underlying problems in their marriage ... the writers and producers used it because they say Satan is using it to hurt the lives of so many Christians all over the globe!

We need to pray for each other more now than ever before because the tactics used are much more subtle than ever before :o(

Blessings!

Hi Cathryn,

Thanks for stopping by. It's nice to meet you. I have enjoyed your blog this morning.

This post is so wonderful. We do need to stand with our sister when they are going through trials. My frind is fond of saying that sometimes we Christians tend to "shoot our wounded". We are either judgmental or are afraid that their problems might rub off on us.

You are so right. We can make a difference. Sometimes a little encouragement goes a long way.
